Making People And The Planet A Priority

Guests booking to stay at any of the 60 hotels in the City Lodge Hotel Group (CLHG) have, at the click of a button, direct access to donate to worthy causes on CLHG's behalf.

The group tallied up and paid out a total of R403 200 to three of its main charities at the end of April 2019, all organisations close to the organisation’s and guests’ hearts: the Cancer Association of South Africa (CANSA), Hospice Palliative Care Association of South Africa and Food & Trees for Africa.

During a special breakfast held at City Lodge Hotel Fourways, three cheques were handed out to representatives from these charities in the amounts of R180 200 to CANSA, R132 000 to Hospice and R91 000 to Food & Trees. An annual event, the breakfast was attended by directors and general managers from CLHG, representatives of the non-profit organisations and suppliers, including Ciro that donates time and product to the Cuppa For CANSA initiative, which is promoted at the 22 Road Lodge hotels.

“These charities are dear to our hearts and hotels. We feel honoured to be associated with them and clearly our guests feel the same way,” says Tony Balabanoff, divisional director of operations.

CLHG has an extensive corporate social responsibility programme aimed at helping people and the planet, some directed nationally by head office and many others managed regionally by each hotel general manager to benefit their local community.
