The handover event took place on 12 February at Olievenhoutbosch Secondary School. Pirtunia Mkhabela, Public Affairs, Communication and Sustainability Manager – CCBSA, said: “We are investing R800,000 across the country toward Maths and Science in line with one of the four pillars of the Study Buddy Fund – Ligbron, an E-Learning Using Technology to improve the teaching and learning of mathematics and science”.

CCBSA has invested over R1 million to support over 6,000 students through Ligbron to date.

MEC Motara said: “We partner with the private sector to create opportunities to grow this economy – take people out of poverty. The school community is very important to all of us in South Africa. Education is not a privilege but a right and everybody’s responsibility.”

The Back2School campaign is part of our economic inclusion strategy to empower young people in education and boost economic development while addressing socio-economic challenges facing learners in our communities.

We are providing stationery to help improve the learners’ performance in Maths and Science to generate a skilled workforce. CCBSA has donated calculators, maths sets, school uniform, and other stationery to Olievenhoutbosch Secondary School, David Makhubo Secondary in Ivory Park, and Mpilisweni Secondary School of Specialisation in Katlehong.

CCBSA’s Study Buddy Fund’s primary objective is to support academically deserving students to realise their dreams.

Investment in education plays a critical role in improving future educational and employability prospects for youth while ensuring sustainable economic growth for the country. South Africa, like many African countries, has a demographic dividend that can only be exploited if sustainable development solutions are co-created and there’s collaboration amongst all stakeholders, including government, industry, and civil society.
