I’m deeply passionate about our beautiful country, South Africa. I believe that transformation is the key to long term sustainable success and my personal journey is testament to that’ says Bridget Ntombela, CEO at Premier Verification.

Bridget highlighted that ‘Transformation is the core of what Premier Verification believes in. I am living proof of a true and successful transformation that has been ethically executed and in accordance with B-BBEE Legislation and the application of the Codes’ Bridget Ntombela.

What is Broad-Based Black Economic Empowerment?

The B-BBEE Act’s and the B-BBEE Codes of Good Practice’s primary purpose is to promote the economic participation of previously disadvantaged individuals in the South African economy.

Black Economic Empowerment provides the legal legislative framework for implementation. The framework is applied and promoted through the mainstream economy and into the supply chain management process.

‘Transformation seeks to ensure broader and meaningful participation in the economy by black people to achieve sustainable development and prosperity. A successful implementation of BEE is a means to create economic growth in South Africa and is vital to advance a company’s corporate strategy.’ says Bridget.

Why do businesses require a B-BBEE Certificate?

Although it is not mandatory to have a B-BBEE Certificate, all companies are encouraged to apply these codes in their interactions with one another. The aim is to level out the economic playing field that has been distorted by decades of denied opportunities in the country.

Preferential procurement will affect most companies through their supply chain management and a valid B-BBEE certificate enables active participation in this process. To obtain a valid B-BBEE certificate, an accredited agency must be utilised. SANAS (South African National Accreditation System) has been mandated with accrediting verification agencies by the DTI. This accreditation ensures the consistency of an independent verification of B-BBEE contributions across the board.
