CDH Welcomes Lebogang Makwela – A Proven Leader In Forensic Investigations And Ethical Governance
We are delighted to welcome such a distinguished leader in forensic accounting and financial investigations to our team. This strategic addition marks a significant enhancement to the support we offer clients navigating complex disputes, regulatory scrutiny, and financial investigations.
With over a decade long experience spanning auditing, forensic accounting, and public sector leadership, Lebogang has continuously demonstrated her ability to lead complex financial investigations with precision and integrity. Her previous role, where she served as the Component Head of Forensic Accounting Investigations at the Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation (HAWKS), saw her spearheading high-stakes and complex financial investigations in collaboration with internal teams as well as external partners.
“Lebogang brings a much sought after combination of integrity, technical depth, and real-world leadership experience. Her insights will be instrumental in delivering results for clients facing complex investigative challenges,” says CDH CEO Brent Williams. “These qualities resonate deeply with our commitment to client service.”
Lebogang’s career reflects a deep commitment to ethical leadership and governance. She was one of the youngest Major Generals in the history of the South African Police Service, and her influence extends beyond operational excellence. She is a forensic auditor CA(SA), and she also serves as Audit Committee Chair and Board Member of the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (ACFE) and contributed to amendments to accounting standards through her work with round table discussions at the Accounting Standard Board.
She also contributed to the national policy development through her work around implementing the recommendations of the financial action task force relating to complex money laundering and terror financing investigations.
Rishaban Moodley, Head of the Dispute Resolution practice, says, “Lebogang’s appointment underscores our commitment to ethical, high-impact advisory. It also reflects our commitment to recruiting top-tier talent with integrity, vision, and impact. Clients facing sensitive or high-profile disputes will gain a calm, capable advisor who has seen it all. Lebogang is a trusted adviser who not only solves problems but builds trust.”
Lebogang’s appointment strengthens our ability to deliver strategic, high-impact solutions to clients facing complex disputes and investigations. Her approach, rooted in ethical leadership, practical problem solving, and a commitment to public service, makes her an invaluable asset to our team and to the clients we serve.
