Proudly SA To Host A Sector Specific Workshop And Forum

The clothing & textile sector has been referred to as a ‘sunset industry’.

In 1996 the sector supported 1 600 factories but by 2016 this number had dwindled to 900.

It is no secret that cheap imports and the arrival on the SA retail scene of international retailers including Zara, Cotton On and H&M have in part contributed to the difficult operating climate in which local designers and manufacturer find themselves, and to the massive loss of jobs in those professions.

Proudly South African has taken up the challenge of being part of the regeneration of the sector.

On Wednesday 13 June, Proudly SA will host a sector specific workshop and forum – see the programme attached – and we hope that you will be able to send someone to cover this important business event.
