Business Day Youth Day
Project Literacy, Chamberlain Family Foundation And FH Chamberlain Trading’s Launch Of The Innovative Mobile Library Bus Initiative: The Big Blue Book Bus!
Building on the success of the Run Home to Read project, Project Literacy’s 19-year-old intergenerational Family Literacy programme that promotes Early Childhood Development Reading in Mother Tongue for families in mostly underserved communities, The Big Blue Book Bus will bring books and literacy development programmes directly to primary schools who are currently without libraries across Northern Gauteng. This innovative initiative aims to bridge the gap by enabling access to relevant secondary reading material, thereby promoting quality education at grassroots levels and building the love for reading among young learners.
Project Literacy and the FH Chamberlain Trading network believe that every child deserves access to quality educational resources at all age groups for appropriate cognitive development to reach their full potential. We ultimately see The Big Blue Book Bus as a vital step towards addressing literacy gaps in our often-forgotten communities in that we’ll be helping young learners improve their reading skills to widen their future learning and development prospects.
The launch of The Big Blue Book Bus will be taking place on International Literacy Day, marking a significant milestone in the quest to promote literacy and education in underserved communities. We invite members of the media, educational stakeholders and supporters alike to join us on this exciting journey.
