Local systems integrator three6five has launched an educational division, to provide quality training to enterprises across Africa.

Known as three6five Academy, the training division will be headed up by Corien Vermaak, who has been appointed as director. An IT attorney by trade, Vermaak spent several years working as an SLA specialist for Vodacom.

“Our mission at three6five is to provide innovative and pioneering one-stop technology communication solutions,” says Tyrone Carroll, CEO of three6five. “We believe that the Academy will bring improved diversity and skills into our organisation, while ensuring that we can provide our customers with training to further empower themselves.”

The Academy will offer both short and long courses, and is on its way to being SETA accredited. Initially, courses will focus on cybercrime and security, with a specific emphasis on the new South African Cybercrime bill and Protection of Information Act (POPI).

Current course options include Cybercrime Awareness, Cybercrime Bill Overview, and Cybersecurity Fundamentals.

“three6five Academy will be a training facility run by a true technology specialist,” says Vermaak. “We plan to be a significant role player that contributes to education and quality training in Africa.”

The Academy will offer three6five’s client base access to quality training, specifically developed to close the education gaps within the technology industry, and will also give customers the opportunity to white label training, trainers and education drives to assist with training requirements.

“We are delighted to welcome Corien to the company, as she brings a wealth of real-life experience to the table,” says Carroll. “She has been involved in negotiating multiple African and multinational network and service agreements, and is a specialist in contracts, SLA management, audits, and certifications. We know that she can impart years of knowledge to candidates taking her courses.”
